Tamko Kitchen Remodeling: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
If you have a Tamko kitchen component that has failed or is starting to show wear, we can match it, price it, and install it. A full Tamko kitchen remodel in Dallas typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and layout changes. Most Dallas homeowners discover they need this service the same way: a hinge pulls loose from a cabinet face, a drawer slide stops catching, or the finish on a cabinet door starts lifting near the cooktop.
We are an independent Dallas remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Tamko. That independence matters because it means we can match your existing Tamko cabinets and hardware without being tied to any single supplier. We’ve worked on Tamko kitchens across Dallas, from Preston Hollow ranch houses to condos near Uptown, and we stock the hardware and trim pieces that fail most often.
Before we get into the details, here’s what you need to know: Dallas humidity swings and hard water take a real toll on cabinet hardware and laminate surfaces. The same Tamko kitchen that holds up for fifteen years in a milder climate can show edge lift and hinge fatigue in eight to ten years here. That’s not a defect. That’s the local environment doing what it does.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko has been a known name in building products for decades, but in the kitchen space, what we most often see in Dallas are Tamko cabinet lines from the mid-2000s through the late 2010s, along with a smaller number of Tamko-branded laminate countertops and backsplashes. The biggest compatibility issue we run into is hinge spacing. Older Tamko cabinets used 35mm Euro-style hinges with 9mm offset, while some of the later production runs moved to standard 35mm full-overlay mounting plates. If you order the wrong hinge, the door hangs crooked by a quarter inch and nothing will make it sit right.
Here is how to identify what you have: open a cabinet door and look at the hinge cup. There is usually a stamped number or letter code inside the cup. Write it down. Then measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hinge cup drill hole. If it’s 3 to 5 millimeters, you have the older mounting pattern. If it’s 22.5 millimeters from door edge to cup center, you have a standard later-model pattern. Both are fixable, but the mix-and-match has caused more than one Dallas homeowner a wasted weekend.
The same applies to drawer slides. Tamko used both side-mount and undermount slides across different cabinet series. Undermount slides are not interchangeable with side-mount ones because the drawer box is dimensioned differently. A side-mount slide is 1/2 inch wide; an undermount slide sits entirely under the drawer and requires a notch in the drawer back. If the drawer box has a notch, you need undermount. No notch, side-mount.
For OEM versus aftermarket: we typically recommend OEM or OEM-equivalent parts for hinges, slides, and drawer glides on Tamko cabinets, because the geometry tolerances are tight. For the cabinet faces, doors, and panels, we can source quality aftermarket components that match the Tamko profile if the original line is discontinued. That gives you a repair that looks original without paying a discontinued-part markup.
If you have a Tamko kitchen and also need work around it, we regularly install KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinets, and Cambria or Silestone countertops. This matters when the repair scope grows past a single hinge into a broader refresh.

Signs Your Tamko Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors that won’t stay closed. This usually means the hinge spring or clip has worn out. The spring inside a Euro hinge loses tension after thousands of open-close cycles, and the door will drift open on its own. It starts with one door, then spreads through the kitchen.
- Drawers that scrape or stick when you open them. The slide bearing has typically failed or the slide itself has come out of alignment. Dallas dust and hard water minerals accelerate this. If one side of the drawer is lower than the other, the slide has partially pulled from the cabinet box.
- Laminate lifting or bubbling at the edges, especially near the sink or dishwasher. This is moisture getting under the laminate layer. In Dallas, a dishwasher that vents steam directly against a cabinet face will cause edge lift within five to seven years. The fix is not glue alone; the panel usually needs to be replaced or professionally re-laminated.
- Hinges pulling out of the cabinet face, leaving enlarged screw holes. The particleboard or MDF behind the hinge has gotten soft from moisture or stress. Repositioning the hinge is a temporary fix on its own. We drill out the damaged material, fill with a two-part epoxy, and remount the hinge in the same location when possible to keep the door alignment original.
- Soft-close dampers that slam instead of gliding shut. The damper cylinder inside a soft-close hinge or slide wears out. It’s a small cylinder, often brass or plastic, and it loses its oil seal over time. A slammed drawer is annoying, but the impact stress also loosens the hardware over time, which is how one small part creates a bigger repair later.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Tamko kitchen remodel in Dallas runs $14,000 – $45,000. That range covers everything from a cabinet re-face with new doors and hardware to a complete gut with new cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, and island construction. If you’re only replacing a handful of hinges and slides, the job is far smaller: parts and labor for a drawer slide replacement typically run $40 – $90 per drawer, and hinge replacement is generally $25 – $60 per door, depending on the hinge type.
What drives the bigger number up or down: the cabinet line you choose (stock, semi-custom, or fully custom), the countertop material, whether the layout changes, and whether we’re adding or relocating a kitchen island. A small Dallas kitchen remodel runs $9,000 – $20,000 when you’re keeping the footprint and refreshing surfaces. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,000 – $13,000. Countertop installation runs $2,000 – $6,500.
Every job gets a written price before any work starts. Not an estimate range, not a verbal ballpark: a written number. The same written price also includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something we installed fails inside that first year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on every project.
If it’s a small repair, the same rule applies. The price you get before we start is the price on the invoice. No change orders, no surprise line items at the door.

AfterDIY or Call Us?
There are a few things a homeowner in Dallas can safely check. If a drawer is sticking, pull it out and clean the slide track with a dry cloth. If a door drifts open, tighten the hinge screws with a screwdriver. That’s about the extent of the safe DIY territory with Tamko kitchen hardware.
Where DIY goes wrong is when a hinge or slide has failed and the owner tries a universal replacement. The hole patterns almost never match, which means drilling new holes into the cabinet face. One wrong pilot hole and a soft MDF panel is permanently compromised. The same goes for re-laminating a lifted cabinet edge with contact cement. If you don’t get even pressure across the whole surface, you’ll get bubbles and ripples, and then the panel needs to be replaced anyway.
If the part has failed, call us at (940) 204-5368 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a simple part swap or something that needs a service visit. Either way, you’ll get a straight answer before anyone picks up a tool. That’s how Trevor Nash starts every job: “Give you a number before I pick up a tool – that’s the only way I know how to start.”
FAQs

How long do Tamko kitchen cabinets last in Dallas? Tamko kitchen cabinets in Dallas typically last 15 – 25 years, but the hardware (hinges and slides) generally needs replacement at the 8 – 12 year mark because of the local humidity and hard water. The cabinet boxes can outlast the hardware twice over.
Can my Tamko kitchen be repaired instead of fully remodeled? Yes, and that’s usually the better call if the cabinet boxes are structurally sound. We can replace hinges, slides, drawer boxes, doors, and laminate panels without tearing out the whole kitchen. A full remodel makes sense when the layout no longer works or the boxes themselves have water damage.
How long does a Tamko hardware swap take? A typical hinge and slide replacement across a standard 10 – 15 cabinet kitchen takes 1 – 2 days. A full kitchen remodel in Dallas runs 3 to 8 weeks, depending on scope, cabinet lead time, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical.
Do you stock Tamko-compatible parts on the truck? Yes. Our Dallas crews carry 35mm Euro hinges in both the older 9mm offset pattern and the newer full-overlay pattern, side-mount and undermount drawer slides, soft-close dampers, and mounting screws. If we need something more specific, we source it same-day from local suppliers. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll tell you if the part you need is already on the shelf.
