Silestone Kitchen Remodeling: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Full Silestone kitchen remodeling in Dallas typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on countertop square footage, cabinet line, and whether you’re replacing a single surface or gutting the room. We stock Silestone-compatible materials and can start most projects within two weeks of the written estimate. Most Dallas homeowners call us after a chip turns into a crack, an edge delaminates near the sink, or a seam that looked fine at install has started to collect grime and pull apart.

Silestone is a quartz surface, which means it’s roughly 90% crushed natural quartz bound with resin. That resin is what fails first in Texas heat and humidity cycles. We see it most in Dallas kitchens where the counter sits against a south-facing window or where a dishwasher vents hot steam directly under the overhang. The surface doesn’t rot like wood, but it can discolor, chip at thin edges, and pull away from the substrate (the plywood or cement board layer underneath) when the bond breaks down.

Trevor Nash has torn out enough failed quartz in Dallas to know the difference between a material defect and an installation shortcut. The repair always starts the same way: figure out what the counter is sitting on, then figure out what actually failed.

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

We work with Silestone’s full current catalog plus discontinued colors that Dallas homeowners still have in older kitchens. That includes the Loft, Ethereal, and Sunlit Days series, the older Nebula and Mythology lines, and the newer HybriQ+ and HybriQ+ Pro formulations that Cosentino (Silestone’s parent company) began using in recent years.

The compatibility gotcha most Dallas owners miss: your Silestone color name is not your model number. Two slabs of “White Zeus” or “Calacatta Gold” can be different thicknesses (2 cm vs 3 cm) with different edge profiles and different resin formulations depending on when and where the slab was cut. The identifying information is printed on the back of a full slab, but once the counter is installed, you won’t see it. We match by color sample, thickness measurement at an exposed edge, and sheen level (polished, sueded, or volcano finish). If you bought the home with counters already in place, we can usually identify the series by thickness and finish alone.

On the OEM vs aftermarket question for Silestone specifically: there is no aftermarket Silestone. The surface is manufactured in Spain under Cosentino’s process, and any repair material that claims to be “Silestone-compatible filler” is just tinted epoxy. That’s fine for small chip repair, but it’s not a replacement surface. When a slab is cracked through, the fix is a new slab, not a patch. We do stock tinted epoxy kits for cosmetic repairs, and we keep sample chips for the most common Dallas colors so we can match pigment before we quote.

Penhallow Remodeling Dallas is an independent general contractor. We are not affiliated with Silestone or Cosentino, and we don’t claim to be. We buy genuine slabs through authorized regional distributors and pass the material warranty through to you alongside our own workmanship guarantee.

Signs Your Silestone Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Chipping at the sink or cooktop cutout edge. Quartz is hard but brittle at thin points. A dropped cast iron pan or a heavy pot set down hard on a 3/4-inch edge strip can blow out a chip. Once the chip is there, the edge becomes the stress point, and the chip grows.
  • A dull, cloudy patch that won’t polish out. This is usually surface etching from an acidic cleaner or a scouring powder that wore through the polished finish. Silestone doesn’t etch like marble, but the resin in the surface can haze if it’s scrubbed with abrasives for years.
  • A dark line running through the color near a seam or corner. That’s the resin binder cracking from movement underneath. In Dallas, we see this on slab-on-grade homes where the foundation shifts seasonally with clay soil expansion and contraction. The counter flexes, the quartz doesn’t, and the stress has to go somewhere.
  • Seam separation or a seam you can catch with a fingernail. Seams are glued with color-matched adhesive. When the substrate swells from a slow leak or the cabinets settle, the seam opens. Water gets in, the plywood underneath starts to rot, and the counter drops a fraction of an inch. You’ll notice it at the sink or dishwasher first.
  • Edge delamination on an overhang. Quartz overhangs on islands and peninsulas are supported by brackets or corbels. If the support wasn’t right, or if someone sat on the overhang, the thin edge strip can separate from the slab. It starts as a hairline gap and becomes a lip you can feel.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

A full Silestone kitchen remodel in Dallas runs $14,000 – $45,000. Here’s what drives the number:

  • Countertop square footage: Silestone slabs run $60 – $110 per square foot installed in Dallas, depending on color and thickness. A typical kitchen has 40 – 70 square feet of counter.
  • Cabinet scope: New KraftMaid or Wellborn cabinetry adds $4,000 – $13,000. Refacing or keeping existing boxes drops the number significantly.
  • Demolition and substrate condition: If the old counters come up and the plywood or cement board underneath is water-damaged, that’s a $400 – $1,200 fix before new counters go down.
  • Edge profile and fabrication: A standard eased or pencil edge is the least expensive. Ogee, waterfall, and mitered-thick edges all add fabricator cost.
  • Backsplash and island: A tile backsplash runs $800 – $2,500 in Dallas. A new kitchen island with Silestone top adds $3,000 – $10,000 depending on size and support work.

Every quote from Penhallow Remodeling Dallas is a written number before we pick up a tool. The price on day one is the price on the invoice. No change orders unless you change the scope. The workmanship carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something fails within a year of install, we come back and fix it at no charge. Our materials come from recognized trade brands, including Silestone, Cambria, KraftMaid, Kohler, and Caesarstone, so the material warranties layer on top of ours.

DIY or Call Us?

For a small chip, you can buy a tinted epoxy repair kit and fill it yourself. The result won’t be invisible, but it will stop the chip from spreading and keep water out of the surface. For a cracked slab, a separating seam, or edge delamination, call us. Quartz slabs weigh 15 – 20 pounds per square foot, and a full counter section is not something two people move safely without a vacuum rig and proper lifting equipment. A mishandled slab doesn’t just break the slab, it breaks cabinets, floors, and sometimes the people carrying it.

What you can safely check before you call: take photos of the damage, measure the counter thickness at an exposed edge, and note the color name if you have the original paperwork. That saves us a trip and gets you a faster written estimate. Call (940) 204-5368 when you’re ready for a professional look at it.
