Silestone Home Additions & ADU: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in Dallas with Silestone countertops specified, the installed project typically runs $45,000 – $130,000 for the addition itself, with Silestone surfacing running roughly $55 – $95 per square foot installed depending on the series you choose. We stock and install Silestone across our Dallas addition and ADU projects, and we can usually match your existing slab or source the exact color within a week. Most homeowners come to us after a contractor’s verbal estimate ballooned post-demo, or after they got ghosted mid-project and now have a half-framed addition sitting behind their house in Lakewood or Richardson.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone is Cosentino’s quartz line, and it comes in three finish families that matter more for an addition than most people realize: polished, suede (matte), and volcano (textured). The color series you picked for your 2018 kitchen island, say Eternal Serena or White Zeus, may be discontinued by 2026. That’s the gotcha most homeowners hit when they try to match existing Silestone in a new addition: the slab you love may no longer be in production, so you either need a full replacement of the old counters to match, or you pick a complementary color and treat the addition as its own design moment.
Identifying your Silestone color is straightforward. Silestone slabs carry a label on the back with the color name and lot number, but if your counters are installed, that label is gone. Your best bet is the original contract, an old sample, or a photo sent to a fabricator. We keep Silestone’s current catalog on hand at Penhallow Remodeling Dallas and can identify most colors from a clear photo in about a day. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, Silestone doesn’t have meaningful “aftermarket” equivalents the way appliance parts do. Quartz is quartz: the brand matters for color consistency, warranty, and stain resistance, not for a generic replacement part. What does matter is the fabricator’s edge profile, seam placement, and the substrate (the plywood or cement board layer beneath the slab). A cheap fabricator will skip the substrate or use the wrong thickness, and your Silestone cracks at the overhang six months later.

Signs Your Silestone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Cracking at inside corners of the sink or stove cutout. This is the classic stress point. The fabricator cut the radius too tight or didn’t round the corner enough, and Dallas’s clay-soil movement finishes the job. We see it most often in older East Dallas homes where the slab shifts seasonally.
- Seam separation or lippage between two adjoining slabs. If you can feel a lip where two pieces of Silestone meet, the installers didn’t level the substrate before setting the slab. Uneven seams trap crumbs and eventually chip at the edge.
- Chipping along the front edge or overhang. Silestone is tough but not indestructible. A hard hit from a cast-iron pan can chip the edge, especially on a polished finish. Small chips are repairable; jagged cracks running toward the sink are not.
- Staining around the sink or faucet that won’t lift. True quartz doesn’t etch like marble, but resin-based binding means aggressive cleaners or heat can discolor the surface. If a stain sits more than a week, the surface has been compromised and you’re looking at a section replacement.
- Separation from the wall or cabinet deck. If the Silestone has pulled away from the backsplash or the cabinets beneath it, the substrate is deteriorating. In Dallas humidity swings, cheap MDF underlayment swells and fails before the quartz ever does.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

When Silestone is part of a Dallas home addition or ADU, the countertop portion runs $2,000 – $6,500 depending on square footage, color line, and edge detail. The full addition ranges $45,000 – $130,000, and an ADU specifically runs $90,000 – $220,000 when it includes a kitchen and bath. What drives the number up or down is the footprint, whether you’re tying into existing plumbing, and your cabinet line: KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry add real cost but carry structural warranties that protect the Silestone above them.
Every Penhallow Remodeling Dallas project gets a written price before work starts. Not a verbal range. The number on day one is the number on the invoice. We include substrate prep, template and fabrication, delivery, install, and sealing in our Silestone numbers. And because this is a home addition, not a countertop swap, all work falls under the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something fails inside the guarantee window, we come back and fix it at no charge, in writing, on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
Silestone itself is not a dangerous product to handle, but an addition or ADU is not a DIY project. Framing, electrical, plumbing, and foundation work all run through licensed trades, and the countertop portion involves lifting 300-pound slabs. What you can safely do yourself: identify your Silestone color, measure your existing counters, and get a sense of square footage so your estimate is grounded. What goes wrong with DIY in this space is structural: a homeowner adds an ADU with the wrong foundation depth for Dallas’s expansive clay soil, and the Silestone cracks at every seam within two years because the slab underneath is moving.
Trevor Nash grew up around framing, trained at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and has run jobs from foundation repairs to full kitchen gut-outs before serving the Dallas area. Give you a number before I pick up a tool, that’s the only way we know how to start. FAQs

Silestone carries a 25-year limited manufacturer warranty, and in a properly installed Dallas addition on a stable foundation, we expect 20 – 30 years from the surface itself. The failure point in our climate is almost always the substrate or the foundation beneath it, not the quartz.
Small chips and light scratches can be filled and polished by a professional fabricator, usually in under an hour. Cracks running from a cutout corner, seam separation, or staining that has penetrated the resin cannot be reliably repaired, and we’ll tell you that straight before you spend money on a patch job. Call (940) 204-5368 for an honest assessment.
From template to installed countertop, expect 7 – 14 days once the cabinets are set and level. The template visit takes about an hour, fabrication runs 5 – 10 business days depending on the fabricator’s queue, and install day is typically one afternoon.
We keep current Silestone color samples and edge profiles in our Dallas showroom books, and we can order any in-production color within about a week. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Kohler lines for the cabinetry, fixtures, and complementary surfaces that complete the addition. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll check availability for your specific color.
