Cover Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full perimeter, and most jobs are completed within three to five working days once materials are on site. If your Cover fence has a failed section, popped post, or warped panel, we can match the replacement part to your existing line and have it installed without tearing out the rest of the run. The telltale sign owners usually notice first is a post leaning after a hard north Texas storm, or a gate that suddenly drags against the ground because the hinge side shifted.

We’re an independent Dallas contractor, not affiliated with Cover, but we work with Cover-compatible components regularly and keep common post sizes, bracket kits, and fasteners on the truck. That means we can quote a repair the same day we look at it, and we put that number in writing before any work starts.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s residential fence products generally fall into a few recognizable lines: aluminum post-and-panel systems, steel-framed horizontal slat fences, and the newer composite privacy panels. The compatibility gotcha we run into most often in Dallas is post size. Cover has used both 2-inch and 2.5-inch square posts depending on the line and the year it was manufactured. If you order a bracket kit for the wrong post width, the panels won’t seat, and you’ll be making a second trip to the supplier.

You can identify your Cover fence spec a few ways. Look for a small aluminum tag on the inside face of a post near a corner, usually stamped with a series code. If the tag is gone or sun-bleached, measure the post’s outside dimension with a tape. A 2-inch post measures exactly 2 inches across the face; a 2.5-inch post measures 2.5. That single measurement determines which brackets, post caps, and gate hinges match.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: original Cover parts come with factory finish matching and the exact alloy spec, which matters for color consistency across a run. Quality aftermarket equivalents are available for common components like hinges, latches, and post caps, but we recommend OEM for anything structural or anything visible on the front elevation. Aftermarket panel material rarely matches factory color after eighteen months of Dallas sun. If it’s a hidden bracket or a tension band, aftermarket is fine and saves real money.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after a storm. The concrete footing has cracked, or the post was set shallow. Dallas clay soil expands and contracts hard through wet-dry cycles, and that movement eventually loosens posts that were never set below the frost line standard we use locally.
  • Gate sag or dragging. Most often the hinge brackets have wallowed out at the screw holes, or the post itself has shifted plumb. Continued use without repair strips the screws further and can pull the gate frame out of square.
  • Panel rattle or popping in wind. The slides or brackets holding the infill boards have worked loose, or the rubber gaskets have hardened and shrunk in the heat. Dallas summers bake those gaskets faster than the manufacturer’s average lifespan suggests.
  • Powder coat chalking or spotting. This starts as a white haze and progresses to bare metal. It’s common on north-facing runs that stay damp, and once bare metal shows around a cut edge or fastener, corrosion sets in.
  • Horizontal rails bowing between posts. That’s usually a span issue, not a material failure. Some early Cover installs in Dallas used longer rail spans than the wind load here laughs at. We can add intermediate posts without replacing the entire run.

None of these are normal settling. They won’t fix themselves, and each one gets more expensive the longer it sits. The good news: most of these failures are repairable without a full tear-out.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

In Dallas, Cover fence installation and major repair work on existing Cover runs lands in the $3,500 to $9,000 range. The spread comes down to linear footage, post replacement count, whether we’re matching an existing finish or doing a full perimeter in new material, and gate hardware.

Line-item pricing is the only way we work. You’ll see the per-foot panel cost, the post cost separated out, concrete and footing work, gate hardware, and labor. If we’re repairing a failed section rather than replacing, the price typically drops well below the full-install range. You’ll know exactly what each line costs before we start, and the number on that written estimate is the number on your invoice. No change orders unless you ask us to add scope.

Every Cover fence repair or install we do in Dallas carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a post shifts, a panel rattles, or a gate sags inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee. That’s the Kingswell Way, and it’s been how we operate since 2004.

DIY or Call Us?

Fence work rarely carries the kind of danger you get with high-tension garage springs or live panels, but a 60-pound steel-framed panel that breaks loose in a wind gust is a genuine hazard. One person wrestling a panel off a failing post is how shoulders get torn and fingers get pinched. If your fence is actively leaning or a panel is pulling away from its brackets, secure the area and call rather than try to muscle it back into place.

What you can safely check: identify whether your posts are 2-inch or 2.5-inch square, look for a series tag on the post face, and note which panels are loose or which gate is dragging. Photograph those details. That information lets us stock the right parts before we arrive, which means one trip instead of two.

Where DIY goes wrong on Cover fences is almost always the footing. A homeowner resets a post in a bag of quick-set concrete without digging below the clay line, and eighteen months later it’s leaning again. We dig the full depth, set the post plumb against a string line, and let the concrete cure before rehanging anything. Give me a number before I pick up a tool, and call (940) 204-5368 if you want us to take a look. The estimate is free.
