CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
CertainTeed fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full perimeter install, depending on linear footage, style (Bufftech is the line most Dallas homeowners ask about), and whether we’re replacing an old fence or starting fresh. We stock CertainTeed-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and gates for most Bufftech series, and Trevor Nash can usually put eyes on your fence line within a day or two of your call. Most homeowners discover their CertainTeed fence has failed the hard way: a post snapped at ground level after a wet spring, a gate sagged out of square, or a hailstorm cracked panels that had been holding fine for a decade. You’re not looking for a sales pitch right now. You’re looking for someone who knows which CertainTeed series you have, what it costs to fix it properly, and whether the rest of the fence is worth saving. That’s what this page is for.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
CertainTeed’s fencing line is sold under the Bufftech name, and Dallas homes built in the last 15 to 20 years usually have one of three series: Brookline (the decorative picket look), Chesterfield (privacy panels), or Constitution (a heavier privacy and semi-privacy panel used in HOAs across North Dallas, Richardson, and Plano). The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: CertainTeed changed post dimensions between manufacturing generations. Older Bufftech posts are 4″ x 4″ nominal with a thicker wall; newer series run 5″ x 5″ posts with a different rail-to-post bracket. If you grab the wrong post, the rails won’t seat. We identify the series two ways: check the inside face of a post near the base for a raised mold mark (Bufftech stamps the series name), or measure the top rail profile. Brookline rails have a rounded cap; Chesterfield rails are squared. Aftermarket posts exist, and some are fine. But for gates and corners, we use OEM CertainTeed posts whenever they’re available because the rail bracket tolerances are specific. We’re an independent Dallas contractor, not a CertainTeed dealer or affiliate, which means we stock the parts you need and also tell you plainly when a compatible part is just as good.

Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean at the gate. The gate post carries more load than any other post in the fence. In Dallas clay soil, which expands and contracts hard through our wet-dry cycles, gate posts work loose first. The post itself is usually fine; the footing has failed.
- Rails slipping out of the post brackets. CertainTeed aluminum rails seat into notched steel brackets. Thermal expansion in Texas summers can back a rail out of the bracket a half-inch. If you can see daylight at the bracket joint, it’s time to reset before the rail drops.
- Pickets cracked at the top screw line. Vinyl expands and contracts, and a screw driven too tight at installation leaves no room for movement. Dallas heat accelerates the cycle. Hairline cracks at the screw line mean the panel is still repairable; splits running top to bottom mean replacement.
- Gate dragging the ground or popping open. A sagging Bufftech gate usually means the corner brackets have pulled loose or the hinge posts have rotated. Greasing the hinges won’t fix the geometry. The gate frame has to be re-squared and the posts re-set.
- Chalky white film on the surface. CertainTeed vinyl has UV inhibitors, but a decade of Texas sun will oxidize the surface. It’s cosmetic until it isn’t: heavy oxidation means the vinyl has lost flexibility and becomes brittle at the bracket points.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Dallas residential lot, CertainTeed fence installation or repair runs from $3,500 to $9,000. A single post replacement with a re-set footing and new rail brackets lands near the bottom of that range. A full perimeter install of Chesterfield privacy panels with two gates sits nearer the top. What drives the number: linear footage, whether the gate posts need concrete replacement (most do, in Dallas soil), the CertainTeed series you’re matching, and access to your fence line. Every quote we give is a written line-item number before work starts: material, labor, old fence haul-away, and fasteners all listed. No change orders unless you ask for something extra, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work in writing. If a post shifts or a gate sags inside that year, we come back at no charge. That’s not a promo line; it’s in the contract.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. If you’re replacing a cracked picket on a straight section with good posts, that’s a Saturday job and we’ll tell you exactly which picket profile to buy. If the problem is a post, a gate, or a rail that’s pulled out of its bracket, the footing and alignment work is where DIY installs go sideways in Dallas. Vinyl fence posts have to be set plumb in concrete with the rail brackets at matched heights, and a post set a half-degree off becomes a gate that won’t latch in July. Digging around fence posts is also where homeowners find the phone line. We don’t make that mistake, and we don’t charge you to learn on your fence. Give you a number before I pick up a tool, that’s the only way I know how to start. If you’re in Dallas and your CertainTeed fence is failing, call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a repair or a replacement, and what each one costs.
FAQ: CertainTeed Fence Installation in Dallas

A properly installed CertainTeed Bufftech fence lasts 20 to 25 years in Dallas, with the posts outlasting the panels in most cases. What shortens that here is footing failure from clay soil movement, not the vinyl itself.
Yes, a single post, rail, or gate can be repaired or replaced without touching the rest of the fence, as long as the series is still matchable. The repair path depends on the part: posts with failed footings can be re-set, but panels with structural cracks through the vinyl need replacement. Call (940) 204-5368 for a straight answer after we see a photo or the fence in person.
A standard Dallas residential fence install takes two to three working days from post set to final walk-through, with concrete footing cure time built in. A single post repair takes half a day including concrete.
We stock common Bufftech rails, post brackets, and gate hardware on the truck, and order OEM posts and panels by series when we know which one you have. Most parts arrive within three to five business days.
If your CertainTeed fence is failing and you want a written price before anything gets touched, call (940) 204-5368 to schedule a free estimate. We’ll match the series, measure the line, and hand you a number that doesn’t move.
