Atlas Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

If you’ve got an Atlas fence with a failing gate, sagging section, or a post that’s leaning after the last storm, we can help. Atlas fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a standard residential yard, depending on linear footage, material line, and whether we’re pulling old concrete footings. Most Atlas owners call us when a gate stops latching or a corner post starts tilting, usually after a stretch of North Texas rain softened the soil around the footings.

We’re Penhallow Remodeling Dallas, an independent contractor, not affiliated with Atlas. What that means for you: we match Atlas-compatible panels, posts, and gate hardware without being tied to one manufacturer’s price book, and we give you a written number before any work starts. Trevor Nash runs our Dallas operation, and he’ll be the one walking your fence line before you commit to anything.

Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas fence products fall into a few distinct lines, and the part you need depends on which one was originally installed. The most common in Dallas yards is the Atlas Premium Wood series, typically cedar or pine pickets with 4×4 pressure-treated posts set in concrete. We also see Atlas ornamental aluminum and steel panel systems in newer subdivisions, and the occasional Atlas vinyl privacy line out toward Mesquite and Garland.

The compatibility gotcha most homeowners miss: Atlas ornamental posts have a narrower interior channel than the big-box equivalents, so a generic gate hinge won’t seat properly. We measure the post’s interior opening on site, usually 2″ or 2.5″ square for Atlas aluminum, and match the hinge plate to that spec rather than guessing. The model stamp is usually on the gate’s bottom rail or the inside of the post cap if the cap hasn’t been painted over. For Atlas wood fences, the spacing between pickets is a 1/2″ narrower than standard residential, which affects how many pickets you need if you’re replacing a section. OEM Atlas parts work, but we often use quality aftermarket equivalents for hinge hardware because they hold up better in our climate. We’ll be straight about which makes sense for your fence.

Signs Your Atlas Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t latch. The most common failure, and usually it’s the hinge side. Dallas’s clay soil expands and contracts through dry summers and wet springs, and that movement shifts the gate post a half-inch over a couple of years. The latch on an Atlas gate then no longer lines up with the strike plate.
  • Posts leaning at the base. Water pools around the concrete footing, softens the clay beneath, and the post starts to list. We spot this most often on fence lines near downspouts or along sloped yards in Oak Cliff. If it’s moving at the base, the footing is compromised, not the post itself.
  • Pickets cracking or warping. Texas heat and UV turns untreated or lightly stained wood brittle. Atlas cedar pickets typically last 12-15 years in Dallas before significant warping sets in, less if the fence never got sealed. Cracks at the nail line are the first sign.
  • Rust bleeding from hardware. On Atlas ornamental aluminum, the factory screws and brackets aren’t always stainless. Once the coating fails, rust streaks run down the panel face. It’s cosmetic at first, but the fastener itself is weakening underneath.
  • Section sags between posts. Usually a failed horizontal rail, softened by moisture where sprinklers hit the fence daily. The rail splinters at the post notch and the whole panel drops.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled family room with new windows and a window seat

Atlas fence installation in Dallas runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a full standard yard, and that spread comes down to three things: linear footage, material line, and what’s under the old posts. A 50-foot side yard in Atlas cedar is on the lower end. A 150-foot perimeter with ornamental aluminum and a gate is at the top.

Here’s the breakdown we give homeowners before work starts:

Scope Dallas Installed Range
Gate repair (hinges, latch, realignment) $250 – $700
Single post replacement (dig, set, concrete) $150 – $350
Section replacement (8 ft, Atlas cedar) $220 – $480
Full residential fence, Atlas wood $3,500 – $9,000
Full residential fence, Atlas ornamental aluminum $4,000 – $10,000

Every quote includes labor, materials, concrete work, and haul-off of the old fence section in the written price. No change orders at the door. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely handle a few checks on your own. Confirm whether the gate is dragging because the latch is loose or because the post has moved, see if sprinkler spray is hitting the fence line, and look for standing water at the post base. That information helps us quote faster.

What we’d rather you not do is dig out a concrete-set Atlas post yourself, especially in July. Dallas clay dries into something close to concrete when it bakes, and that same soil gets heavy and unstable when wet. The digging, leveling, and re-setting is straightforward for us with the right equipment. And setting a gate post wrong is the leading cause of a gate that drags again next spring. If you want it to stay plumb through a full North Texas weather cycle, call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll put the number in writing before we dig.
