American Standard Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
American Standard fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on fence length, gate hardware, and how much old material we’re pulling out. We install American Standard-compatible vinyl and aluminum fencing with written pricing before any work starts, and most installations take one to three days once materials are on site. Homeowners usually reach out after a fence has taken one too many Texas windstorms, or when gate posts have started leaning far enough that the latch no longer lines up. You’ll know it’s time when the gate drags across the concrete or a bottom rail has cracked clean through.
We’re an independent Dallas contractor, not a factory branch of American Standard. That means we can match your existing line and color, but we’re not beholden to a corporate parts desk when something’s discontinued or backordered.
Which American Standard Models This Applies To

American Standard fencing through the major home-center and fence-supply channels in North Texas falls into two product families: vinyl privacy fence systems and aluminum ornamental fence systems. The vinyl line runs in 6-foot and 8-foot panel widths with tongue-and-groove pickets, while the aluminum line comes in 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot heights with rackable panels for sloped Dallas lots. The compatibility gotcha we see most often: American Standard vinyl posts have a slightly different wall thickness than generic big-box posts, so a cheaper off-the-shelf post can leave your gate swinging loose within a season.
To identify what you have, look for a small manufacturer stamp on the inside face of a post cap or on the top rail underside. Measure the outside post dimension. American Standard vinyl posts run either 4″x4″ or 5″x5″, and the aluminum posts are 2″x2″ or 2.5″x2.5″ square. We stock OEM American Standard posts, rails, pickets, and gate kits on the truck, plus a few quality aftermarket equivalents when a specific color has been discontinued. For most Dallas homeowners, OEM is worth the extra 10 – 15% on parts because the color match and post fit are dead on.
One more gotcha worth knowing: American Standard’s Sandalwood and Clay colors have shifted slightly over production years. A panel bought in 2018 will not perfectly match a panel bought in 2024. If you’re patching rather than replacing the full run, we measure against the existing fence, not the catalog swatch.

Signs Your American Standard Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate post lean of more than 5 degrees. This is the big one after Dallas rain seasons. Clay-heavy soil around White Rock Lake and East Dallas expands and contracts, slowly pushing posts out of plumb. The post itself is rarely the problem – the footing is.
- Bottom rail cracked or sagging. Vinyl rails crack when water pools inside and freezes, or when a weed trimmer eats through the bottom edge. Once a rail is compromised, pickets start to shift and the panel loses its rigidity.
- Gate latch that no longer lines up. If you have to lift the gate to engage the latch, the hinge-side post has moved. Forcing it closed only bends the hardware and stresses the hinge screws.
- Faded or chalky pickets with visible cracking at fastener points. UV exposure is relentless in Dallas. American Standard vinyl carries good fade resistance, but once you see surface crazing around screws or brackets, water is getting in and the material is losing strength.
- Aluminum panels rattling in the wind. If you hear your fence before you see it move, the rail brackets or post caps have loosened. Ignored long enough, the panel works free and becomes a sail in the next storm front.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Dallas backyard of roughly 150 linear feet with one gate, expect $3,500 – $5,500 for aluminum and $4,500 – $7,000 for vinyl, installed. Longer runs with multiple gates, fence removal, or posts set in rock push the upper end toward $9,000. The biggest cost drivers are linear footage, gate count, and what’s underground when we dig. Half of Oak Cliff sits on limestone shelf, which slows post-hole work compared to the sandy loam north of 635.
Every quote includes the American Standard-compatible materials, post concrete, hardware, gate install, haul-away of old fencing, and a written workmanship warranty. No change orders unless you add scope. No verbal ballpark that moves at the door. The price Trevor writes down is the price on the invoice, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise means if a post shifts or a gate binds within the year, we’re back to fix it at no charge. That guarantee is in writing on every project we do.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: look at post plumb with a level, examine rail ends for cracks, and confirm whether the latch still has all its screws. What you shouldn’t do is pull and reset a vinyl post on your own unless you’ve done concrete work before. The post has to be set in a properly sized footing below the Dallas frost line, and that’s usually an 18-inch to 24-inch hole filled with quick-set concrete. Get the depth wrong and the whole section leans again by summer. Get the post twisted even a few degrees and the gate will never hang right.
Most failed fence installations we see are actually failed footings, and that’s a two-person job with the right tools. If your gate is dragging or a panel is cracked through, call us at (940) 204-5368 and we’ll give you a written number before we pick up a tool. That’s the only way we know how to start.
FAQs

American Standard vinyl fence in Dallas typically lasts 20 to 30 years, and aluminum often goes 25 to 35 years, depending on sun exposure and how well the posts were set. The fence material itself rarely fails first in our climate – it’s almost always the footing or gate hardware that goes before the pickets do. If your posts are plumb and your gate is square, your fence has years left. Call (940) 204-5368 if you want us to walk the line and tell you what’s actually wearing out.
Yes, we replace single posts, rails, panels, and gate assemblies all the time. The honest answer is that patching works well when the fence is under 10 years old and the color hasn’t shifted much. On older fences with significant fade, a section patch will always show, and full replacement starts to make more sense per dollar. We’ll tell you which way we’d go and why before you spend anything.
Most residential American Standard fence installations take one to three working days from first post hole to final gate adjustment. Removal of the old fence adds a half day. We give you a defined arrival window before the crew shows up, and the site is clean when we leave.
We stock American Standard posts, rails, pickets, post caps, and gate hardware on the truck for the most common Dallas colors, including white, tan, and clay. For discontinued colors or unusual panel widths, we source directly through our fencing suppliers, which usually adds a few days. You’ll never need to order parts yourself – we handle sourcing as part of the job. Call (940) 204-5368 for a free estimate on any American Standard fence installation or repair in Dallas.
