CGI Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
CGI fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a full replacement, depending on panel count, post condition, gate hardware, and whether the old concrete footings can be reused. If your CGI fence is leaning, pulling loose at the post, or the gate drags against the latch plate every time you open it, you already know something underneath isn’t holding. Most Dallas homeowners call us after a storm season or a hard freeze-thaw cycle exposes a post that was never set deep enough in the first place. We’ll walk through exactly what fails, what it costs to fix it right, and how to know whether a repair will hold or you’re better off starting fresh. Call (940) 204-5368 if you’d rather just get a written price and be done with the guessing.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI is best known in the Dallas market for their ornamental steel and aluminum fence systems, most commonly the residential-grade line that carriers like KraftMaid (cabinetry) and Silestone (surfaces) have nothing to do with, but we mention those brands only because some homeowners confuse product categories when they hear “manufacturer name.” The CGI fence product line includes panel heights from 4 feet up to 8 feet, in both welded steel and lighter aluminum profiles. The most common residential installs we see across Dallas are 6-foot steel panels with 2-inch square posts and pressed-finial caps.
The compatibility gotcha: CGI panels are sized to fit inside the post spacing, not between post centers. Measure the panel width from outside edge to outside edge, then measure the inside gap between posts. If those don’t match, someone installed the wrong panel or the posts have shifted. Also, early CGI aluminum lines used a thinner wall extrusion than the current steel lines, and the post brackets from those older runs don’t always align with newer panels. Before you order anything, check for a small die-stamped code near the bottom rail of the panel. That code tells us the series and production year, which matters more than the marketing name on the fence.
OEM CGI replacement parts are solid, but on older fences, quality aftermarket equivalents often match or exceed the original spec at 30 – 40% less. We’ll show you both options in writing before you decide. Penhallow Remodeling Dallas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI.

Signs Your CGI Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean of more than a few degrees. This almost always means the post was set in too shallow a hole or the concrete collar cracked below grade. North Texas clay expands and contracts aggressively, and a 24-inch post hole that works in sandy East Texas soil won’t survive a Dallas summer-to-winter cycle.
- Gate sag that won’t adjust out. The hinge post is the first thing to move on a poorly installed CGI fence. If you can lift the gate and it straightens up, the hinge post is loose in the ground, not the hinges themselves.
- Rust bleeding from the bottom rail. Dallas humidity plus sprinkler overspray equals corrosion at the panel bases. Once the bottom rail rusts through, the panel loses its structural integrity and wind load does the rest.
- Panels rattling or buzzing in wind. Loose slide brackets or missing set screws. This starts as a nuisance and ends with the panel pulling free from the post during a spring storm.
- Concrete footing visible above the soil line. Some settling is normal, but a heaving footing that rises an inch or more every season is a sign the post was never buried below the frost-stable line for Dallas, and it’s only going to keep moving.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

The installed price for CGI fence replacement in Dallas falls between $3,500 and $9,000 for a typical residential yard. At the lower end, you’re looking at 50 – 75 linear feet of straight fence, reuse of a solid gate, and level ground with existing footings in salvageable shape. The upper end covers 150+ feet, multiple gates, post re-setting in new concrete, and any demo and haul-off of the old fence. Where your job lands depends on three things: total linear footage, how many posts need replacing versus reusing, and whether we’re working around existing hardscape or irrigation lines.
Every quote is written, and it’s a number, not a range. That number includes the panels, posts, brackets, concrete, labor, and haul-off. If we find something unexpected during the install, you’ll know the adjustment before we spend another dollar. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we touched fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge, in writing. That’s the Kingswell standard, and it’s the only way we start a job.
DIY or Call Us?
A fence gate that scrapes the ground is just annoying, not dangerous, and you can adjust the gate wheels or shim the hinges safely. Checking for loose set screws on the slide brackets is fine, too, if the panel isn’t under tension. Where you should stop and call us is anything involving a leaning post, a broken post base, or pulling and resetting concrete footings. A CGI steel panel weighs 40 – 60 pounds depending on height, and when a post lets go, that panel wants to fall on whatever is closest to it. Getting it down safely, bracing it, and re-setting the post at the right depth takes enough manpower and know-how that most Dallas homeowners decide the labor is worth it after the first estimate. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll come out, look at what you have, and hand you a written number for the fix.
FAQs

A properly installed CGI steel fence should last 20 – 30 years in the Dallas climate if it’s set on concrete footings below the frost line and the panel bases are kept off the soil. The aluminum lines can go longer, but they’re more prone to wind fatigue at the bracket connections. If your fence is under 10 years old and already failing, installation depth was almost certainly the problem, not the product.
A leaning post can usually be repaired by excavating the old footing, re-setting the post in new concrete, and re-aligning the panels, provided the post itself isn’t bent or rusted through at the base. If more than three or four posts are moving, replacement starts to make more sense because you’re already paying for labor and materials across most of the run. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll tell you honestly which one you’re looking at.
We keep common bracket sets, post caps, gate hinges, and latch hardware on the truck, and we can source specific CGI series panels and posts locally or through our supply network within a few days. If you need an odd-height panel or a color match on an older powder coat, that may add a little time, and we’ll tell you before you commit to anything.
A straight 6-foot panel replacement across 100 linear feet with good post conditions is usually a one-day job for a two-person crew in Dallas. If we’re pulling and re-setting multiple posts or pouring new footings, expect two days, sometimes three, depending on concrete cure time.
Give you a number before I pick up a tool – that’s the only way I know how to start.
