IKO Roofing: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
If your IKO shingles are curling, granule-bald, or leaking, we can match your existing IKO line and install the repair at a fair Dallas price. Roof repair on an IKO system in Dallas typically runs $400 – $1,800 depending on how many squares are compromised and whether the underlayment (the water-shedding layer beneath the shingles) has to come up too. Most Dallas homeowners discover the failure the same way: a dark water stain on a bedroom ceiling after a spring hail storm, or granules piling up in the gutter after a big wind.
We’re an independent Dallas remodeling and repair contractor, not an IKO dealer or factory rep. That matters because we’ll tell you straight when a repair makes sense and when a partial re-roof or full replacement is the only honest answer.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO splits its residential shingle lines into a few families, and the part you need depends on which one is on your roof. The Cambridge line is the most common in Dallas neighborhoods, especially the architectural (sometimes called dimensional) profile with its thicker, shadowed look. Dynasty is IKO’s heavier architectural line with a wider exposure, and Marathon Plus and Nordic show up on higher-wind-rating builds. Older Dallas homes sometimes carry Royal Estate or even the discontinued Chateau three-tab.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: IKO color lots shift, and a bundle of “Charcoal Gray” Cambridge bought in 2021 won’t always match a bundle bought this year. If your repair area is visible from the street, we always pull a physical sample from an undamaged section and match against IKO’s current stock before we order anything. You also need the right starter strip and ridge cap (the pre-bent shingles at the roof peak) – generic caps won’t sit right on an IKO architectural profile and fail within a season or two in Texas sun.

Signs Your IKO Roofing Is Failing
- Granules collecting in gutters or at downspout elbows. This is the most common first sign on Dallas IKO roofs. It means the asphalt top layer is breaking down, usually from UV exposure. Shingle life in Dallas typically runs 15 to 18 years, shorter if the attic ventilation is poor.
- Curling or cupping at shingle edges. In Dallas humidity swings, the mat inside the shingle absorbs and releases moisture. When the edges lift, wind gets under them. IKO shingles with the older organic mat do this faster than the fiberglass-mat lines.
- Bald spots or exposed fiberglass mat. Once the granule layer is gone in a patch, the shingle is no longer protecting anything. Heat accelerates it, and Dallas roofs with full western exposure go bald years before shaded sections.
- Water stains on ceilings or along exterior walls after rain. By the time water shows inside, it has already passed through the shingle, underlayment, and decking. The leak’s entry point is often four to six feet uphill from the stain you see.
- Nails popping above the shingle surface. Expansion and contraction from Dallas temperature swings slowly back nails out. Every exposed nail head is a water entry point.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed IKO roof repair in Dallas runs $400 – $1,800 for most jobs. A single damaged shingle replacement with sealant and matching is typically $400 – $600. A repair area up to one square (100 square feet) with new IKO shingles, new underlayment, and resealed flashing runs $800 – $1,400. A roof that needs the entire slope replaced, including IKO underlayment and ridge cap, lands at $1,500 – $1,800. Full roof replacement on a Dallas home runs $8,000 – $20,000 depending on square footage, pitch, and whether the decking below needs replacing.
What drives the number: steep pitches (work goes slower, and the cost reflects it), tear-off of multiple old layers, and whether the flashing around chimneys or vent pipes is reusable. We write every IKO repair quote as a fixed price before we start. No change orders when we find rotted decking unless we document it, show you the rot, and get your approval in writing. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails within the year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely inspect from the ground or a ladder: check gutters for granules, look for curling at the roof edges, and examine the attic for water trails on the underside of the decking after rain. What you should not do is walk the roof. Roof work is genuinely dangerous – falls from Dallas single-story homes put people in the ER every year, and the slope plus Texas heat doesn’t make it safer. Granule patches and sealant from a big-box store also fail fast in Dallas sun. If you see bare mat or water inside, call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll assess it properly.
FAQs

Realistically, 15 to 18 years in Dallas weather. Intense UV, hail, and humidity swings cut shingle life noticeably compared to milder climates. Architectural IKO lines like Cambridge and Dynasty hold up longer than three-tab.
Yes, if the damage is localized and the surrounding shingles still have granule coverage and flexibility. When the failure is widespread or the shingles are so brittle they crack under hand pressure, replacement is cheaper per year than repeated repairs. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.
Most repair areas take one day. Larger slopes with decking replacement can run two days. We match the repair to the existing IKO line and color before we start.
We stock the most common IKO Cambridge colors on the truck and order less common lines and color lots direct from regional supply. We also routinely source parts and materials from other recognized trade brands like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when projects call for them. Call (940) 204-5368 and we’ll check availability for your exact color while you’re on the phone.
