Why Dallas Homeowners Choose Ameristar Construction

We provide independent Ameristar in Dallas construction service, handling the HVAC-linked work that sits inside kitchens, bathrooms, and roofing jobs. Our crews see these units up close during remodels and re-roofs, from M4 series air handlers tucked into utility closets to Ameristar package units bolted on rooftops. What makes our approach different is the scope: we coordinate the construction and the Ameristar equipment so one contractor owns the details, not three. Penhallow Remodeling Dallas is not an authorized Ameristar dealer and we don’t imply factory backing. We’re a Dallas remodeling company working with these systems honestly, sourcing OEM parts when the warranty demands it and practical aftermarket parts when it doesn’t. If you’re mid-remodel or re-roof and the Ameristar side of the job is acting up, call us at (940) 204-5368. We’ll send someone who knows what they’re looking at.

Why Trust Penhallow Remodeling Dallas for Your Ameristar Construction?

A built-in window seat in a bay window

Trevor Nash runs our Dallas operation, and he got into this trade early. He picked up his first framing hammer at fourteen in a neighbor’s garage in Los Angeles, trained at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and spent years on foundation repairs and full kitchen gut-outs before bringing his crew to Dallas, where they’ve worked jobs from Oak Cliff bungalows to newer builds near White Rock Lake. That matters when an Irving Ameristar service unit or Dallas unit is the quiet piece of the job nobody planned for. Trevor gives you a number before he picks up a tool. It’s the only way he knows how to start.

Our field crews work on Ameristar products during Dallas remodels and roof replacements, so they know how these systems behave when drywall dust, re-flashing, and rerouted ducts enter the picture. We stock common OEM-spec capacitors, contactors, and drain pans locally for fast turnaround. When a warranty requires exact-match components, we source through independent HVAC supply houses. When a 12-year-old unit is out of warranty and the compressor is failing, we say so plainly: patching it isn’t a favor. That honesty is the Kingswell standard our work follows since 2004. Written price first, defined arrival window, clean job site, written guarantee on every project. If the work fails inside 365 days, we come back and make it right at no charge. No service call, no re-inspection fee.

Common Ameristar Construction Problems We Fix in Dallas

  • Blower motor capacitor failures on M4 air handlers. The Ameristar M4 series air handler has a blower capacitor that works hard during Dallas summers, cycling through 100°F-plus afternoons for months. After three to five years, that capacitor can swell and fail. The blower hums but won’t spin, or spins slow, and airflow drops through the house right when you need it most. We replace the capacitor with an OEM-spec part and check the blower motor amperage while we’re at it. A weak capacitor often gets blamed on a dead motor. It’s a $30 part, not a $600 motor, and a good diagnosis is the difference between those two invoices.
  • Condensate drain line clogging from construction dust. This one follows remodels around like a bad habit. During a kitchen or bath gut-out, drywall dust, tile thinset powder, and even sawdust find their way into return air, then through the coil and into the condensate drain. The line clogs, the pan fills, and water ends up on the closet floor or the ceiling below. We’ve seen this on Ameristar units in Dallas ranch homes from the 1960s all the way to production builds from the 2010s. The fix is a drain line flush and sometimes a new float switch, but the better fix is what we do during construction: seal the return plenum before demo starts and protect the equipment with a temporary filter frame. The tile crew never touches it after that.
  • Rooftop curb flashing leaks on Ameristar package units after re-roofing. When a roofer tears off an old Dallas roof and nails down new underlayment around an Ameristar package unit, the curb flashing is the first thing to fail if the roofer cut corners. Water leaks inside, shows up on the ceiling near the hallway, and everyone blames the HVAC unit. Usually the unit is fine; it’s the flashing detail at the curb. We re-flash the curb, replace the gasket between the unit and the curb, and verify the condensate drains are pitched correctly. Dallas hail storms send a lot of roofs to the landfill, and every one of those jobs touches a package unit somewhere.
  • Evaporator coil fin corrosion on units near the coast or salt air. Dallas isn’t on the coast, but we still see coil corrosion on Ameristar evaporators in homes near pool equipment, water softeners, and even sprinkler systems that mist the condenser. The aluminum fins oxidize, restrict airflow, and reduce heat transfer until the system can’t keep up. Cleaning helps for a season or two. Eventually the coil has to be replaced. We tell homeowners the truth about where they are on that timeline, because replacing a coil at year five is a different conversation than replacing it at year eleven.
  • Rerouted supply ducts causing airflow imbalance after a remodel. An exterior wall moves, a load-bearing header goes in, and the old supply duct no longer fits where it used to. If the new duct is undersized or kinked, static pressure rises and the Ameristar blower works harder than it was ever designed to. We size ducts by the manual J load calculation, not by guesswork or “this is what was back there before.” Trevor is particular about this one because a cheap duct repair in one room can shorten the life of the blower motor in the air handler down the line.

Ameristar Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

For in-warranty Ameristar equipment, we source OEM components through independent supply houses so the manufacturer’s coverage stays intact. For out-of-warranty repairs, we offer a choice: OEM for exact-match peace of mind, or quality aftermarket capacitors, contactors, and drain pans that cost far less and perform the same or better in daily use. We don’t push aftermarket on safety or control components, and we don’t push OEM on commodity parts. We lay out the price difference and let you decide.

Repair versus replace is a straight math conversation. If the compressor is gone on a 13-year-old Ameristar R4A3 air conditioner, a compressor swap might buy you two summers. A new condensing unit buys you ten. We’ll write both numbers down so you can look at them side by side. That’s the Kingswell Way. The price on paper before the work starts, and the number on the invoice matches it. Call (940) 204-5368 if you want that written down for your unit.

Our Ameristar Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We start with static pressure readings, capacitor tests, drain line inspection, and a load check. On an Ameristar package unit, we also inspect curb flashing and gasket condition before touching the unit itself.
  2. 2
Written price. You get a line-item price for parts, labor, and any construction coordination (duct rerouting, re-flashing, drywall patch). Not a verbal range. A number we’re held to.
  3. 3
Repair or install. We swap the failed component, re-flash the curb, reroute the duct, or replace the unit. If construction is ongoing, we protect the equipment from dust with a temporary filter frame and seal the return plenum.
  4. 4
Testing. We run the system through a full cycle, verify airflow at each supply register, check refrigerant pressures (on cooling work), and confirm the condensate drains freely. No “it should be fine.” We test until the numbers are right.
  5. 5
Written guarantee. Every job gets a written guarantee. If the repair fails inside 365 days, we return at no charge. That second visit is free, no service call, no re-inspection fee. It’s how we’ve operated since 2004.

Ameristar Products We Service & Install in Dallas

We work on Ameristar by American Standard M4 series equipment throughout Dallas, including the R4A3 air conditioner, the M801 gas furnace, the A4AC3 heat pump, and the air handlers and package units that carry the Ameristar name, plus Ameristar repair in Plano when the job takes us north. Our crews handle existing units during remodels: duct rerouting, exhaust coordination, re-flashing after roof replacements, and full replacements when the unit has reached the end of its useful life. We keep common M4-series components in our Dallas stock: blower capacitors, contactors, drain pans, float switches, and curb gaskets. That local stock means fewer waiting days and less downtime in the middle of a remodel. If the unit is in an attic, in a closet, or on a rooftop, we’ve worked around it.

We Also Service These Brands

Our crews work with more than Ameristar. We install KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures in Dallas kitchens and baths every week. That matters when an Ameristar air handler sits behind the wall your new vanity is going on. One General Contractor handles both sides of the project, so the HVAC doesn’t get orphaned mid-remodel.
